18.08.2008 / Fragmented blocks open views to river Schelde.

Last spring, Groep Maes challenged us to come up with a masterplan to redevelop a center city area in Ghent. The site borders a branch of the river Schelde and neighbours the Hollainkazerne, a social housing project by Neutelings-Riedijk Architects.

We developed a scheme based on fragmented blocks. A balancing act between an urban ensemble that is characterized as a whole, and a dividable scheme, this future living area opens up views towards the river for tenants as well as the public.
