(06-01-2013) FIRST PRIZE - Gasthuis- en Schouwburgsite, Mechelen (B)

HUB, together with Origin and Idea Consult, is appointed by the city of Mechelen for a research-by-design and master planning assignment on the Gasthuis- en Schouwburgsite. The site sits on the edge of the historic city centre. Partly city block, partly campus model, and of low spatial quality at present, it has the potential to become a publically programmed connector for both the city centre as the newly developed railway area adjacent to it. Goal of the assignment is to create a functional, spatial and process framework for future roll-out through a city renewal program.
