(14-08-2013) PROJECT UPDATE - Fire Station, Antwerp (B)
Building Delivered.
In 2009 we won a competition to reconvert a fifties office building into a fire station. Due to its position in the centre of the city – the building is part of a historical housing block – the program is stacked around a fluid circulation space, culminating in penthouse living quarters with a protected patio and views over the city rooftops. The outside combines an industrial outlook with refined and technical detailing, resulting in a clear but nevertheless no too outspoken identity. The interior materials and detailing make for a robust though domestic atmosphere.
