(14-06-2014) PROJECT UPDATE - Official opening of the city fire station (B)
City fire station in ExtrArchitecture!
On Saturday the 14h of June, the official opening of our city fire station 'Sint-Jacobsmarkt' took place. At that occasion, the project was also published in the 'ExtrArchitecture' magazine.
The project is an ingenious transformation of a former office building and aims at realizing a fire station that is both highly functional and spatially interesting.
Integrating these ambitions within the constraints of the existing casco of the building led to a precisely defined series of interventions.
An important part of these interventions is centered around the redesign of the facade, which is a contemporary interpretation of the building's energetically performant skin into the historical cityscape that surrounds the building.
