We Win!

 

We are happy to announce that our team – consisting of HUB, UTIL, RCR and DAIDALOS PEUTZ – has won the competition for the design of health facilities and assisted living for elderly people in Mortsel (B).

 

Situated on the transition between an urban block and a park, our proposal tries to manage the contradictions between collective and private, public and domestic, through a carefully articulated building entirely dressed in wood. A certain monumentality is attained through the stark repetition of individual terraces, while small scale elements like parapets, window-frames and canopies make for a gentle feel.
